Overview

Whether you're after LPs or CDs, you'll find plenty of record stores all across Melbourne that are bucking the global trend towards online sales. From hip hop, dance and indie to metal, folk, jazz and blues, the city has a little corner reserved for every kind of music fan out there.

The best strips for vinyl? It's hard to go past Sydney Road in Brunswick, Smith Street in Collingwood, Greville Street in Prahran, or Johnston Street in Abbotsford. But don't discount the CBD either: there are tonnes of hole-in-the-wall vinyl stores, tucked away in basements or hidden up stairs. Grab a listening station, chuck on some tunes, and enjoy Melbourne's eclectic vinyl scene.
